There are four long-running shonen shows in the world of anime that almost all fans will be familiar with, if not completely dedicated to. Those shows are DRAGON BALL Z, BLEACH, NARUTO, and ONE PIECE. The former three have all seen themselves released on DVD for quite some time now. The month of May will see the release of BLEACH Season 10 and DRAGON BALL Z Season 7, but ONE PIECE is a legendary show that has yet to receive a home entertainment release in the UK. That’s all about to change come 27th May, as the first 26 episodes are to be released uncut and features Funimation’s new English dub.
ONE PIECE tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man that wants to find the legendary One Piece, which will allow him to become the King Of Pirates. ONE PIECE has been running since 1999 and has been met with critical acclaim. This is the perfect time to jump on board a long running series from the very beginning.
Eiichiro Oda’s original One Piece manga is one of the most popular series of all time in Japan, with more than 270 million copies sold . It is also the fastest manga series to reach 100 million copies.
I’m extremely excited to get my hands on a copy and we’ll have the THN review for you later this month.
