Give him the opportunity and director Roland Emmerich is sure to set upon wiping out the iconic address of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Well, in film that is. He’s done it before in INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and 2012, and he’s done it again with his latest action spectacle, WHITE HOUSE DOWN.
The plot for the film follows a police officer John Cale (Channing Tatum), on a tour of the White House with his young daughter on a rare day off. However, he is soon forced into action and protect the US Commander-In-Cheif (Jamie Foxx) when the Presidential home comes under attack from a heavily armed group of paramilitary terrorists led by rising actor Jason Clarke.
The film includes a supporting cast of Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods and Richard Jenkins. It’s slated for the US on 28th June, the UK 6th September. Check out this new poster showcasing the badly photoshopped mugs of Tatum and Foxx (or is that just me?). You can find the brand new trailer here if you missed it.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
