Robert Downey Jr. has been attempting to get a new live-action adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s fabled PINOCCHIO off the ground for quite for some time. The actor wants to take on the role of Geppetto as well as produce the pic alongside spouse Susan Downey.  He’s previously tapped Tim Burton to direct but nothing came of it. Now he’s suggesting his TROPIC THUNDER co-star and director Ben Stiller could be the man to marionette its way to the big-screen.

Apparently, Stiller is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct his friend and colleague after impressing with his upcoming THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, although Downey Jr. is still yet to make a deal with his take on the material with Warners. We await confirmation.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
