‘Ted’ Producer Attached To ‘Gears Of War’

Gears Of War Image FeaturedLast October was the last time we heard any news on a possible GEARS OF WAR movie. New Line had dropped out but video game company Epic had hired writer Stuart Beattie and were on the lookout for producers. Well, it appears they have now found that producer in the form of Scott Stuber. Stuber seems like an odd choice as he has most recently given us the comedies TED and IDENTITY THIEF, and his last effort at a big sci-fi blockbuster was BATTLESHIP. Beattie seems to be no longer involved, as Stuber will be developing a script from scratch.

GEARS OF WAR is a billion dollar franchise for the X-Box console. It sees a world taken over by The Locust Horde and humanities last attempt at destroying the pesky buggers. The film may have its producer, but it is yet to find a studio to call home. The film will be produced through Stuber’s own Bluegrass Films along with Epic, but it still needs a big name backer. I’d hazard a guess at the film still being a long way off. It looks as though this will be another HALO or BIOSHOCK, with rumours being spread for years without anything concrete coming to fruition. Still, best take time rather than giving us another STREET FIGHTER or SUPER MARIO BROS.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies.
