British rising actors Jeremy Irvine (WAR HORSE) and Phoebe Fox (TVs SWITCH) will headline Hammer’s horror sequel THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH.  TV veteran director Tom Harper is at the helm of the follow-up tale and picks up 40 years after the terrifying events at the abandoned abode of Eel Marsh House. The original sleeper smash, directed by EDEN LAKE’s James Watkins, was based on Susan Hill’s hit novel and stage play, starring Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, as a widowed father struggling with the dark spirits at the haunted mansion. It had previously been adapted into the acclaimed 1988 TV movie.

The new plot will be set in the middle of World War II, with the government seizing the eerie environment as a place to house the evacuated children during those turbulent times. Of course, they’d all wished they had stayed and took their chances in the harrowing city strife. Jon Croker, a story editor on the first film penned by Jane Goldman, wrote the sequel screenplay.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
