Musicals are not something new for these stars, but it looks like Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep will be joining forces to feature in Disney’s adaptation of the 1980s Broadway show INTO THE WOODS. The musical, which features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, will be helmed by CHICAGO and NINE director Rob Marshall, while the script will be written by James Lapine, who also wrote the book for the show.
If you are not a musical fiend, INTO THE WOODS tells the story of a baker and his wife who desperately want a child. However, after being cursed by a witch the pair can’t have a baby. To break the spell they must complete various tasks on an adventure which will see them meet other fairytale characters.
There is no set production date for the project just yet, but it looks like it will start in 2014. Are you excited at the possibility of seeing Depp and Streep singing again?
