I’m one of those film fans that knows very little about the epic novel it’s based on but I’m extremely looking forward to Marc Forster’s adaptation of Max Brooks’ WORLD WAR Z. The zombie genre is rarely done on a massive scale, more often then not featuring in grubby low-budget straight-to-DVD form, but thanks to the huge success of hit series THE WALKING DEAD there’s now proof rotting flesh-eating hordes have a huge following aside from the early George Romero classics.
Brad Pitt headlines as United Nations employee Gerry Lane, who travels the globe in an attempt to find the origin and cure for the ravenous Zombie pandemic that is now threatening the end of humanity. The trailers suggest some impressive monster action, if a little overly CGI’ed set-pieces. Fingers crossed WORLD WAR Z has bite but the worrying thing is the PG-13 rating!
Check out this first featurette for the film co-starring David Morse, Mireille Enos, Eric West, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, David Andrews and Elyes Gabel. It will invade cinemas from the 21st June.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
