Writer/director James Gunn is currently prepping his first big-budget project with Marvel’s intergalactic action-adventure, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, here in the UK, which will shoot in a matter of weeks. We now understand British actress Ophelia Lovibond has landed a supporting role the sci-fi space thriller which will be headlined by ZERO DARK THIRTY’s Chris Pratt, who takes the role of Star Lord.

Lovibond, perhaps best known for stealing family comedy MR. POPPERS PENGUINS from under the nose of Jim Carrey, is expected to play an aide to a character known as The Collector, who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from being wiped from existence by a mysterious prophecy.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will hit cinemas from 1st August and will co-star former WWE star Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker and Zoe Saldana.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

You obviously have no idea what you’re writing about if you think she’s playing The Collector. Have you even read your source?
