Fascinating Trailer For ‘The National’ Documentary ‘Mistaken For Strangers’

I’m already a big fan of The National and massively looking forward to their new album next month, so when rumours first surfaced about this tour-type documentary MISTAKEN FOR STRANGERS, it just adds more awesome interest for the band, and to get behind-the-scenes with them. What makes this trailer particularly interesting is the completely different approach of how it has been filmed and developed, and this little snippet makes it look incredibly compelling.

The doc idea was put together by singer and band member Tom Berninger, who’s given his brother Matt the opportunity to go on tour with The National and film what happens. However, Matt isn’t exactly a fan of their style of music (and not in the band) and although he takes on a role of a roadie, he appears to get taken up by the collective popularity of them and starts to question his own reason for being there, even commenting at one point: “I feel like I’m on the outside of the world looking in. I don’t know what I’m even doing here.” Check it out here and click here for screenings at the Tribeca Film Festival:

MISTAKEN FOR STRANGERS will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and their new album, Trouble May Find Me, is set for release on May 21st. I’ve already pre-ordered and can’t wait to catch this piece of work, it looks absolutely unique.
