GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY focuses on one of the greatest musicians of the 1990s, Jeff Buckley, the son of famous singer-songwriter Tim Buckley. Penn Badgley takes on the role of the tragic Jeff, who accidentally drowned in 1997. The film will chart the younger Buckley’s rise to greatness, as he battles against the shadow cast over him by his father. As you might have guessed, the music is going to be the real star here, but Badgley also seems to be given a great performance.
Jeff Buckley’s album ‘Grace’ may be in my top 10 listened to albums of all time, and even though both Buckley’s lead fascinating careers and lives, I can’t help but feel that the spirit of the music has not been captured in this film, unlike other musical biopics of the last decade WALK THE LINE, RAY, LA VIE EN ROSE, and I’M NOT THERE.
GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY is currently available on Tribeca’s VOD service that includes Virgin Media,
Playstation and iTunes. It stars Penn Badgley, Imogen Poots, William Sadler, Ben Rosenfield, and Norbert Leo Butz.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

“I can’t help but feel that the spirit of the music has not been captured in this film.”
– Not sure it’s fair to say that from a trailer bud but, for me, I can feel the essence coming through and wonder if that’s the part they’ve got right but maybe it’ll lack in story a little, bizarrely.
Still, intriguing!
