James Wan Could Direct ‘Fast & Furious 7’

James Wan Fast & Furious Image 2As we discovered earlier this month, Justin Lin does intend to return to the FAST & FURIOUS franchise for a fifth outing. Therefore a new director is being sought out as Universal want to get moving as quickly as possible on a seventh film due to the success the film has experienced over the last two outings. The idea is to get the film shooting this summer so the film can have a 2014 release date. A number of directors were rumoured to be in the running, but now it looks as though SAW and INSIDIOUS director James Wan is out in pole position. FAST & FURIOUS 7 would be Wan’s biggest film to date, as he has mostly dealt with low-budget horror film, which includes his upcoming THE CONJURING, and his next effort, INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2.

Justin Lin has already come out in support of Wan with the following:

I’m extremely proud to be part of the FAST franchise, it is an experience I will always treasure.  It’s time for me to move on to other things and I’m thrilled that Universal and Neal have selected James Wan to lead the franchise into its new chapter.

I think a new director will really prevent the franchise from going stale and Wan could easily add a few more artistic flares to proceedings.

FAST AND FURIOUS 6 is released 24th May 2013. Its stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Michelle Rodriguez, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and a whole bunch of awesome cars.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
