Yesterday it was announced that Justin Lin, having directed the last three ‘FAST’ movies he will definitely not be back to direct FAST AND FURIOUS 7. Reasons were given not because of any kind of creative differences between Lin and the producers, but more the fact that Universal want a seventh film to be in cinemas for next summer (2014), meaning work pretty much has to kick off right now, a time when Lin is still finishing up on FAST AND FURIOUS 6. So, he won’t be back, but who may take his place.
According to the very reliable folks over at Latino Review, Universal has narrowed their pretty urgent search down to just three helmers, they being Jeff Wadlow (KICK ASS 2), Harold Zwart (THE KARATE KID remake) and Brad Furman (THE LINCOLN LAWYER). Three very interesting choices. Universal are apparently very pleased by what they are seeing with Wadlow’s work on KICK ASS 2, so my guess is that he may be the obvious choice for the seventh film in the hot FAST franchise.
So, that’s all we have. What do you guys think?
