Nicolas Winding Refn and Ryan Gosling made quite the directing/acting duo for DRIVE, so why stop there? The pair return for ONLY GOD FORGIVES, a very gritty revenge drama that sees Gosling play Julian, an ex-gangster/kickboxer hoping to return quietly in Thailand. Unfortunately, his brother is killed by a corrupt police officer (Vithaya Pansringaram), and Julian’s mother (Kristin Scott Thomas) demands Julian avenge his brother’s death.
Everything in this trailer is amazing, from the gorgeous use of colours to the innocent but sinister music. ONLY GOD FORGIVES is bound to make some waves, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Thai actor Vithaya Pansringaram is mentioned come Awards time next year.
