Brad Pitt Takes On David Ayer’s ‘Fury’

Brad Pitt Fury ImageApparently WORLD WAR Z just isn’t enough world war for Brad Pitt. He’s just been announced as taking on the lead in David Ayer’s World War II film FURY. FURY will follow a tank-crew made of five Americans during the final days of the war in Europe. Ayer, best known for writing TRAINING DAY and one of the greatest films of 2003, S.W.A.T., has had a pretty steady directing career so far, with films such as HARSH TIMES, STREET KINGS, and END OF WATCH taking up space on his CV. 2014 will see the release of Ayer’s next film TEN, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger.

FURY will be the first time that Ayer steps out of the cop/crime genre as a director. In fact, Ayer has stayed with the genre ever since 2001’s THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, despite starting his career a year earlier with U-571. Let’s hope he can deliver the goods, but with Brad Pitt on board the project must certainly be impressive. John Lesher will produce and production will hopefully begin this autumn.

Ayer described the project as follows:

[I want to] bring a fresh execution to the genre. What these men went through is worthy of a complex, honest portrayal. This will have incredible, visceral action and complex rich characters. I plan to bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience.
