The latest trailer for young adult adaptation THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES is exposition heavy and has a real 80s quality to it. Although, I can’t decide if that’s a good or a bad thing. If I knew it was going to be a violent and dark urban fantasy then I’d certainly be excited, so perhaps I should give it a chance. Along with BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, and the already released THE HOST, this is another entry into an increasingly overcrowded marketplace. Hopefully the story ha something more the trailers fail to get across, but then again some of the demon designs are intriguing enough for me to want to see more.
THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES is released 23rd August. It stars Lilly Collins, Lena Headey, Aidan Turner, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kevin Zegers, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Durand, Jared Harris, and Jemima West.
