Tennant, Piper and Hurt for Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special!

No doubt you’ll be waiting to watch the brand new episode of DOCTOR WHO today (and then checking out THN’s review straight after, hint-hint!), but in the meantime, news regarding the 50th Anniversary Special has leaked.

The BBC have revealed in a press statement  this morning that Tenth Doctor David Tennant, former companion Billie Piper, and screen legend John Hurt (him of ALIEN and MIDNIGHT EXPRESS fame) have signed on to appear in the forthcoming 60 minute 3D Special, which will air sometime in November. The news was meant to be revealed in the new issue of DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE, which is released next week, but copies were circulated to subscribers early, hence why you’re reading the news now.

So, what do you guys think? Me personally, I’m super stoked now! Tennant for me is the best Doctor, and a 50th Anniversary celebration without him just seems wrong (especially considering that Tennant is massive Doctor Who fan himself). Having Billie Piper back is an equally exciting proposition, and as for John Hurt – well, it’s about time we had him in a DOCTOR WHO episode, that’s for sure!

Now all Steven Moffat needs to do is get Paul McGann and Christopher Eccleston on board and we’re sorted!

From an early age, Matt Dennis dreamt of one day becoming a Power Ranger. Having achieved that dream back in the noughties, he’s now turned his hand to journalism and broadcasting. Matt can often be found in front of a TV screen, watching his current favourite shows such as DOCTOR WHO, GAME OF THRONES, SHERLOCK, DAREDEVIL, and THE WALKING DEAD, though he’s partial to a bit of vintage TV from yesteryear. Matt also co-presents the Geek Cubed podcast, which you can download from iTunes. It’s quite nice.
