Aussie director Baz Luhrmann is the man tasked with bringing us another star-studded take on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel, THE GREAT GATSBY. Alan Ladd in 1949 and Robert Redford in 1974, lead previous classic adaptations of the story of Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner now living on Long Island and fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbour, Jay Gatsby. All before becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy, when drawn into Gatsby’s inner circle of friends.
The film was expected last Christmas but moved to early summer 2013 and features an epic all-star cast including Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Gemma Ward and Adelaide Clemens, coming at us in 3D no less. Check out these two new television spots for the spectacle hitting the US on the 10th May 2013, followed a week later in the UK.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
