Excitement for J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi sequel, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, has returned following a period overshadowed by the confirmation he will direct Disney and LucasFilm’s STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. An event in London showing 30 jaw-dropping minutes may have helped things along (read our report here) as well as a brand new trailer. The big-budget blockbuster sees the return of Kirk, Spock and the crew of the Starship Enterprise as they battle for Earth’s survival against a fearsome foe in Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison (or is he?).
We have three impressive new images from the film, once again, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, Bruce Greenwood and John Cho. There is also a stunning Alice Eve, Noel Clarke and former ROBOCOP Peter Weller on hand to spice things up.
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS will venture into UK cinemas from the 9th May and the US 17th May.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
