It’s expected Fede Alvarez’ EVIL DEAD remake will have none of the grotesque fun and frolics of Sam Raimi’s original and subsequent sequels. Instead, giving viewers a brutal assault on the senses and an endurance test of the gore-ful kind. Not that we expected anything less after viewing the vomit-inducing red-band trailer which left a terrifying, tongue-slicing taste in the mouth.
Some of team THN have had the lucky pleasure of seeing the film at a recent press screening (read our review here) and gave Alvarez’ effort high-praise indeed. Jane Levy leads as drug addict Mia, needing to retreat to a cabin in the woods in an attempt to go cold turkey with the help of her estranged brother and friends. Needless to say, the Necronomicon is discovered and power-tools are necessary if they’re to survive the onslaught of the demonic deadite spirits.
Check out the latest clip and new poster from the horror hitting US cinemas from 5th April and the UK on the 19th April.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
