Early next summer sees the release of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Chris Evans returns as the genetically-modified super soldier, who comes up against former friend-thought-dead, Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), now defrosted and reanimated as a ruthless assassin in the superhero sequel. Steve Rogers will also have to contend with bad-ass villain Crossbones, played by THE GREY’s Frank Grillo. The action-adventure co-stars the returning Toby Jones, Hayley Atwell, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders, which will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

We now have confirmation that another S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran, Agent Jasper Sitwell (played by the underrated Maximiliano Hernandez) will reappear following roles in THE AVENGERS, THOR and a couple of Marvel One Shot’s. He took to Twitter to announce:

So, it’s a much bigger role in a much darker Captain America story. Lots of twists and turns. And lots secrets about the Marvel Cinematic Universe revealed! I can’t say much more or the Marvel cops will revoke my S.H.I.E.L.D. clearance! Trust me you will all freak out in the theatre when all is revealed!

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will be the third of Marvel’s ‘Phase II’ slate of films following IRON MAN 3 and THOR: THE DARK WORLD and will hit cinemas 4th April 2014. Newcomers to the Marvel universe include Anthony Mackie as new buddy, Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon) and Emily VanCamp as female lead, Sharon Carter.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
