Much like last years CABIN IN THE WOODS, acclaimed and intense home invasion shocker, YOU’RE NEXT suffered a much delayed release due to some studio financial problems. It’s now been picked up by Lionsgate who have released these unsettling trio of teaser posters from the film expected 23rd August in the US.
YOU’RE NEXT gained rave reviews at an early screening at the Toronto International Film Festival 2011. It was also recently seen at last months SXSW Festival and is receiving comparisons to Wes Craven’s original SCREAM. It’s said to put a fresh twist on home-invasion horror genre telling the story of a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers who turn up at a family reunion, only to find the girlfriend of one of the family proves to be the most skilful and clever killer of them all.
V/H/S co-director Adam Wingard is at the helm and stars Sharni Vinson, AJ Bowen, Nick Tucci, Wendy Glenn, Joe Swanberg, Rob Moran, Barbara Crampton, Maragaret Laney, Amy Seimetz, Ti West, Larry Fessenden, Lane Hughes, L.C. Holt, Simon Barrett and Calvin Reeder. The first trailer is expected next week.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
