Earlier today we discovered Maxiliano Hernandez would reprise his fun S.H.I.E.L.D. role of Agent Jasper Sitwell in a much expanded aspect than previous, for Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Now we have word an acting icon could be about to join the cast that will see Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) genetically-modified super soldier, comes up against former friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), all thawed out as a ruthless assassin by lead villian Crossbones, played by THE GREY’s Frank Grillo.

Robert Redford is currently in negotiations to play a “senior leadership role” to Samuel L. Jackson’s Director Nick Fury. The legendary actor made a name for himself during the late 60s and cemented his superstar status with a number of classic efforts during the 1970s and 80s. He’s also an Oscar-winning director and producer following his filmmaking debut ORDINARY PEOPLE in 1980 and the founder of the Sundance Film Festival.

Redford will join the action-adventure co-starring Toby Jones, Hayley Atwell, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp and Anthony Mackie, which will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
