Fede Alvarez’ contemporary remake of Sam Raimi’s intense and controversial spatterfest, THE EVIL DEAD, is gaining rave reviews in early press and festival screenings (Our review here). Fans of the original franchise may have some misgivings about the Uruguayan following in the footsteps of a genre icon (as well as a missing Bruce Campbell as Ash), but be assured, Alvarez’ film pushes boundaries of the stomach-churning kind as well as paying homage to the 1981 classic!
The film hits the US from the 5th April and the UK from 19th April with a cast including Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore and Jessica Lucas. Check out these latest claret-covered images from the film that has the original trio of Raimi, Campbell and Rob Tapert producing.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

….We’ve seen all of these already except for the image of Mr. Alvarez in the doorway. Who are you trying to fool, Ghosthouse Ent?
