In true modern-day fashion, what’s a film without a bit of internet viral interaction? Danny Boyle’s TRANCE hits the UK on March 27th and now you’ve got the chance to get involved with the narrative, well, in a way… You have the chance to explore two sites as clips subtly play behind logos, flashing imagery and general mind-fekery but nothing that gives anything specific away. TRANCE stars James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel and invites you to explore the world of hypnosis and in the words of director Boyle:
“We did a lot of research into hypnotism – about 5 percent of the population is highly susceptible which is what hypnotists look for – and while everything you’re about to see is ethically dubious, it is possible.”
You can read more of that quote and what he had to say with a teaser clip at SXSW 2013 by clicking here. The film follows Simon (McAvoy), an art auctioneer who gets become mixed up with a group of criminals led by Franck (Cassel) but then partners up with hypnotherapist Elizabeth (Dawson) in order to recover a lost painting. If you love Boyle’s earlier work, and ones that mix up SHALLOW GRAVE, THE BEACH and more, then you’re going to love this. But in the meantime, you’ve got something important to do: You’ve just got to make a choice:
DO YOU WANT TO REMEMBER?
or
DO YOU WANT TO FORGET?
TRANCE is released in the UK on March 27th and in the USA on limited release from April 5th. You can also find out a bit more over on the official site here.
