It looks like the remake of the classic 1980s NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION movie may be pushing ahead quicker than we thought. The mighty Collider caught up with HORRIBLE BOSSES scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein at the press junket for THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE, where the duo spoke about the planned movie.
“We’re shooting in June in Atlanta and in New Mexico.” Daley confirmed to the site.
Goldstein elaborated on the film’s plot: “Rusty Griswold is grown-up, and that’s Ed Helms. We’re casting the other parts now and it’s pretty exciting. I mean we’ve been directing shorts together, but this is our first feature. When we wrote the script we didn’t know we’d be directing it and then New Line said, “Do you wanna pitch yourselves to direct it?” And we were like “You bet!””
“And then we looked at the script and it was like, “who wrote this piece of shit?” Daley said.
Goldstein added: “We immediately turned into directors.”
The article goes on to say that the two confirmed that want to bring some of the original cast members for the new movie, but whether they can get Chevy Chase out of retirement remains to be seen. I just hope Beverley D’Angelo is game.
