If you don’t know her name, you may know her film history. Sarah Polley, the brains behind TAKE THIS WALTZ (which I loved) and AWAY FROM HER, is about to release her latest project – a documentary following her family members discussing their late mother Diane.
What starts out as a piecing together of fragmented memories becomes something much darker and almost thriller-like. Much like TAKE THIS WALTZ, STORIES WE TELL is beautifully shot; it’s just a shame that the story seems a little sad for Polley herself.
Although having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September and Sundance in January, STORIES WE TELL will finally get a limited US release from 17th May 2013. No UK release date scheduled as of yet.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
