First Character Poster Arrives For ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

Having never read the book before, I have to say I quite enjoyed Gary Ross’ take on Suzanne Collins brutal young adult novel, THE HUNGER GAMES. Although when speaking to fans of the book, it appears the violence was as blunt as a rusty spoon. It was rather tame for such vicious plot elements but I feel it was always going to be difficult for Lionsgate to include scenes of such carnage involving children fighting to the death, in order to appeal to masses and ratings board.

Ross is now gone and I AM LEGEND’s director Francis Lawrence is now at the helm for sequel, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, as we soon discover our heroine, Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) ordeal is not yet over as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) insists on bringing her and cake-frosting wet drip, Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), back into the survival tournament.

Here we have the first character poster featuring Elizabeth Banks’ Effie Trinkett from the follow-up set for cinemas from 22nd November. It’s the first of a series of Capitol Couture portrait posters which will appear over the next few days.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
