While the character cast a foreboding shadow in Marc Webb’s comic-book reboot, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, we saw nothing of the character of Norman Osborne in last summers blockbuster. Although the currently shooting sequel does feature his son, Harry, to be played by CHRONICLE’s excellent Dane DeHaan, we doubted the inclusion of the Oscorp villain (aka The Green Goblin) with Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti on unhinged duties as Electro and Rhino respectively.
Now we can confirm THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will indeed feature Norman Osborne in some capacity, as the ever-intense Chris Cooper has been cast in the role. Cooper’s made a string of impressive performances in the likes of AMERICAN BEAUTY, BREACH, THE BOURNE IDENTITY and LONE STAR, and was most recently seen in Disney’s THE MUPPETS.
We suspect he’ll appear briefly, setting up his monstrous transformation in the third film. Good casting? We think so!
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is currently filming and co-stars Emma Stone, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Shailene Woodley, Felicity Jones and Colm Feore. It swings into cinemas May 2, 2014.
