Whedon Gives Details On ‘The Avengers 2’ & ‘Hulk’ Solo Effort

Joss WhedonDirector and geek god Joss Whedon has mentioned the words THE AVENGERS and HULK, which means we all have to lose our minds. While promoting his Shakespearean effort, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (doesn’t contain any superheroes), Whedon was asked about future Marvel projects, and gave this little comment on what to expect from THE AVENGERS 2:

Death, death, and more death! I can’t do any bigger, so I’m trying to do better.

That’s what we like to hear. However, Whedon also admitted concerns about a possible Hulk solo effort. When asked if it was possible to make a ‘good’ Hulk movie (I’d argue we’ve already had 2) Whedon answered:

Yes. But it would be very, very hard. The problem is [Hulk] is a very popular character, but he’s not a superhero. Half of him is a superhero, half is a werewolf. You can’t structure it like a superhero movie. The one thing you would have in your favor would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don’t know if they have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole. But by himself, it’s tough.

Just end THE AVENGERS 2 with Hulk going bonkers and being jettisoned into space, then give us PLANET HULK and then THE AVENGERS 3 can be WORLD WAR HULK. It’s what we all want.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING will be released in the UK 14th June 2013 and in the US on 21st June 2013. THE AVENGERS 2 is getting ready for a 1st May 2015 release.
