THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO’s original director, Niels Arden Oplev, is set to direct a remake of Joel Schumacher’s supernaturally scientific, brat pack thriller, FLATLINERS. Schmacher’s 1990 effort has a cult following and centred on a group of medical students who find a way to experiment on themselves in order to taste ‘near death’ or the afterlife for a brief moment. That is until their experiment goes awry. The film co-starred Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, Oliver Platt, William Baldwin and Kiefer Sutherland. Sony Pictures has hired SOURCE CODE screenwriter Ben Ripley to pen the screenplay.
Oplev, meanwhile, will soon see the release of his English-language debut – the crime-thriller, DEAD MAN DOWN. The film sees him reunite with his Dragon Tattoo lead, Noomi Rapace, as her character teams up with Colin Farrell’s mob enforcer to bring down his ruthless crime boss, Terrence Howard. Dominic Cooper co-stars in the revenge-fuelled feature and below we have the latest international poster. It hits US cinemas 8th March, while a UK date is still to be announced.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
