Who Could Be About To Fly In ‘The Crow’ Remake?

The_Crow_010

Previously a project set to star Bradley Cooper as re-animated and revenge-seeking rocker, Eric Draven, with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directing, Relativity Media’s remake of modern gothic classic, THE CROW, has stuttered to get off the ground. A year ago we brought you news a new director and writer was now onboard, yet, we’ve heard little else in terms of the progress.

While it’s going to be a struggle for any actor to step into the boots of the now late and mythic-like, Brandon Lee, it appears we may have news of a talented actor currently eying the role.

Strong sources claim James McAvoy, currently shooting Bryan Singer’s mutant sequel, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and will next be seen in Danny Boyle’s heist thriller TRANCE, is looking at taking the lead. McAvoy’s steadily risen up the Hollywood ladder since his breakout role in Brit TV hit, SHAMELESS. Dabbling in bonkers blockbusters like WANTED and ARTHUR CHRISTMAS, as well as serious Oscar-winning dramas with THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND and ATONEMENT.

We’ll keep you posted on developments but this could be an exciting and intriguing remake to look forward to. Both director, F. Javier Gutierrez, and scribe, Jesse Wigutow, are still attached.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
