Back in November of last year, I was lucky enough to watch Disney’s new short PAPERMAN and I was blown away (no pun intended) by its charm, animation and invention. Today, we’re sharing this again for you after it won Best Animation at the 85th Academy Awards! If you’re watching WRECK-IT RALPH soon as well, which is out now in the UK and highly recommend and read our review here.
PAPERMAN is the first directorial outing for John Kahrs, a man who’s previously worked on the likes of RATATOUILLE, THE INCREDIBLES, TOY STORY 2 and BOLT. It’s a quite wonderful mix of hand-drawn and digital animation, with a straight forward but cleverly-worked narrative and – best of all – it’s in black and white with all the right hints of colour, you’ll see. Check it out now:

Beautiful and touching. Disney still knows how to do it. Reminds me of the opening sequence to “UP”
