I’m very eager to see what Blomkamp has to offer us this summer with the highly anticipated release of ELYSIUM starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, and as we’ve only had snippets of information about that project at the moment, we’ve also been drawn to the news that he’s almost immediately due to go back to Johannesburg to start work on his film, the sci-fi comedy titled CHAPPIE now the big summer release has wrapped.
The highly secretive director hasn’t even revealed a trailer yet for ELYSIUM but CHAPPIE will film principle photography back in South Africa and then they’ll move back to Vancouver for all the after work, as he’s previously done. The script has been co-written with his wife Terri Tatchell and that’s all we know so far but we’d figure something Alien-based, interlinking with a little nod to society. I’m definitely not complaining though, as DISTRICT 9 was scattered in the middle of serious and funny, so we’ve got a lot of patience and interest in his coming years.
