We have a host of new posters for some forthcoming flicks due to hit cinemas later this year.
First up, we have a look at Anne Fontaine’s lavish-looking tragic-drama, TWO MOTHERS. The film, based on the acclaimed novel by Doris Lessing, stars Robin Wright and Naomi Watts as two childhood best-friends who each fall for the others much younger son. The emotional devastation seen in the recent trailer suggests a possible early contender for next years Oscars. It hits cinemas in France in April (with different title of PERFECT MOTHERS), but there is still no word on UK/US dates.
DEAD MAN DOWN reunites original THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO director Niels Arden Oplev, with his female lead, Noomi Rapace in a revenge-fuelled thriller co-starring everyone’s favourite sweary Irishman, Colin Farrell. The supporting cast ain’t too shabby either with Dominic Cooper and Terrence Howard (in ruthless mobster mode), also included. The film lands in the US on the 8th March, while again, there is currently no confirmed release date for us here in the UK.
Next we have a couple of new designs for crazy comedy, 21 AND OVER. The film looks to be in the same mould as last years PROJECT X, with THE HANGOVER creators, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, making their joint directing debuts. A host of rising newcomers make up the cast, namely Miles Teller, Skylar Astin, Justin Chon and Sarah Wright, which follows four friends celebrating one of their 21st Birthdays on a night before a big medical school exam. It’s in US cinemas 1st March and 29th March here in the UK.
Finally we have a look at the UK quad for Jeff Nichols’ acclaimed festival favourite, MUD, starring Matthew McConaughey, Michael Shannon and Reese Witherspoon. The plot centres on two teenage boys who encounter a fugitive and form a pact to help him evade the authorities and bounty hunters, who are in hot pursuit. They aim to help this mysterious, hunted man and reunite him with his one true love. MUD makes it’s long-awaited general release on the 29th April in the US and 10th May in the UK.
