Saucy Novel ‘Beautiful Bastard’ To Get Film Adaptation

Beautiful Bastard

I’m pretty tired by the amount of book-to-screen adaptations that have been reported on lately. But what I’m even more irritated by is the amount of erotica novels which seem to be going into publication – and today is no different. BEAUTIFUL BASTARD, penned by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings (under the name Christina Lauren), is set to hit the big screen after Constantin Films paid out a reported six-figure sum for the rights to the story.

With a narrative very similar to that in FIFTY SHADES OF GREY (which I haven’t read), BEAUTIFUL BASTARD focuses on Chloe Mills, an intern who starts a rather naughty relationship with her boss. What started out as TWILIGHT (surprise, surprise!) internet fan-fiction slowly became quite kinky (and very popular), and Hobbs decided to partner with Billings to convert the narrative from computer screen to paper.

The book is set to hit shelves from Tuesday. Jeremy Bolt (RESIDENT EVIL, THE THREE MUSKETEERS) is in talks to produce the film.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
