Michael Mann & Chris Hemsworth Team Up For Legendary Pictures Thriller

The excellent Oscar-winning Michael Mann, director of classics MANHUNTER, THE INSIDER and HEAT, is to unite with THOR himself, Chris Hemsworth for an-as-yet-untitled thriller that Mann has co-written with Morgan David Foehl.

The film is being developed by Legendary Pictures and will mark Mann’s first film since 2009’s disappointing, digitally-shot gangster biopic, PUBLIC ENEMIES. He did, however, direct (and produce) the great pilot for doomed horse-racing/crime drama series, LUCK, for HBO in 2010. Details are scarce at the moment but the plot for this latest project is rumoured to centre on cyber security.

Hemsworth is as busy as ever, with his long-delayed RED DAWN remake, still to be released in a number of countries including the UK. He also has Ron Howard’s Formula One biopic RUSH due later this year, as well as a return to his hammer-swinging signature role of THOR in THE DARK WORLD.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
