Undoubtedly stepping onto the coattails of THE BREAKFAST CLUB and such similar 80s outings with this poster, THE GEOGRAPHY CLUB is being released by Huffington Pictures which is, yes indeed, stems somewhat from the online kinda-news channel The Huffington Post.
However, the film is an adaption of Brent Hartinger’s novel, in which the focus is Russel (played by Cameron Dean Stewart), who finds companionship in a group of students all hiding their sexual preferences, so this could definitely be a new twist – and an up-to-date one – dealing with honest, modern-day issues. It’s been recently picked by Shoreline Entertainment, and their CEO Morris Ruskin had this to say:
“This film is a clever, feel-good, coming-of-age story with an important social message. Cameron Deane Stewart delivers an outstanding performance along with a magnificent supporting cast.”
There is an interesting cast all attached, including QUANTUM LEAP and STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE legend Scott Bakula. The rest of the cast include Nikki Blonsky, Marin Hinkle, Allie Gonino, Alex Newell, Meaghan Martin and Ana Gasteyer. Here’s that poster:
There’s no release dates set as yet, but we’ll keep you up-to-date with THE GEOGRAPHY CLUB.

Interesting concept, I don’t know the book but at least it seems like a modern narrative.
