The BBC recently released information on its upcoming television schedule, covering everything from a DOCTOR WHO special to a brand new series about the mythical, ancient city of ATLANTIS.

Celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this coming November, DOCTOR WHO will air a 3D special to coincide with the momentous occasion. Although nothing has been revealed about the premise, Whovians are already speculating on whether or not any of the previous surviving Doctor’s will make an appearance, with the conversation specifically centred around undisputed fan-favourite, David Tennant.

Although this won’t mark the first time that DOCTOR WHO will receive the 3D treatment (see the 1993 30th anniversary episode, “Dimensions in Time”), the episode will arguably see a spike in viewership thanks to it’s ever-growing popularity.

Also on the agenda, BBC will debut their new series ATLANTIS sometime in the fall. MISFITS writer and MERLIN creator, Howard Overman, will helm the project, which is expected to fill the timeslot once filled by MERLIN. Filming begins in Wales and Morocco this coming April.

You can also keep an eye out for an adaptation of author PD James’ novel, DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY, a miniseries set six years after the events that took place in Jane Austen’s “Pride & Prejudice.”

Finally, the film BURTON AND TAYLOR, starring Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter, will centre around the tumultous revival of Noel Coward’s play, “Private Lives”, in which Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor feuded throughout production.
