Well yes, if the new rumours are anything to go by!
While no official statement has been made just yet, it looks like Robert Downey Jr has fought off competition to buy the movie rights to an episode of Charlie Brooker’s BLACK MIRROR.
The episode THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF YOU first aired back in December 2011 and starred Toby Kebbel and Jodie Whittaker. The episode followed a young couple who live in a world where everything they do is recorded on a chip, and how it ultimately destroys their relationship. The episode itself was written by Jesse Armstrong, better known for his writing on THE THICK OF IT and PEEP SHOW.
Downey Jr and his wife Susan co-own a production company named Team Downey, and with the company being a start up this would be a perfect opportunity for them to get their foot through the industry door. The film rights for THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF YOU have been sought after for some time, with George Clooney even putting in a bid.
BLACK MIRROR returns to Channel 4 tonight.
