Thanks to a significant smaller budget, Vin Diesel has so far single-handedly promoted his forthcoming science-fiction film, RIDDICK, via his own official Facebook page. The futuristic actioner sees him return as cool-as-hell antihero, Richard B. Riddick, which was lucky to get of ground following the big-budget failure of THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK. PITCH BLACK’s resident, cold-hearted killer will be back this September, and will once again see writer and creator, David Twohy, at the helm.
RIDDICK, will this time be forced to call for the help of the mercenaries hunting him after his spacecraft crash-lands on a deadly, creature-filled planet. However, he has concocted a plan that will see him use their arrival to his advantage and leave these bounty-hunters to the feast of thousands of flesh-eating critters.
Check out this new still from the film co-starring Jordi Molla, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista and Karl Urban.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

So it seems we’re in for a Pitch Black 2… :'( Too bad, I thought the switch from mediocre sci-fi actioner to full-on space opera was a ballsy move. I wish they had developed this further instead of regressing to the former.
