Sam Mendes Talks Charlie And The Chocolate Factory – The Musical!

There has been a few announcements recently regarding Sam Mendes musical version of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and now we’re very happy to share a few words from the award-winning director on the project he’s putting together, and how it’s all developing. His take on Roald Dahl’s classic, which opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 25th June 2013, is being watched with intrigue in how it’s coming together for the stage. In fact, even Mendes has even commented:

“To me, the big job of the show is to render the familiar strange again.”

In this first featurette ‘An Introduction to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, Sam Mendes, set and costume designer Mark Thompson and puppet and illusion designer Jamie Harrison talk about their ambitions for the forthcoming production:
