As I sit with my ULTRAMAN and GODZILLA DVDs, I look with disdain towards Guillermo Del Toro’s CGI infested PACIFIC RIM. Then I see images like this and I’m reminded of just how awesomely epic it’s going to be. PACIFIC RIM takes place 15 years after a war has erupted between Kaiju (monsters) and humans piloting massive robots known as Jaegers. Now that’s some serious smackdownness that I wanna see. These latest images show off a couple of the Jaegers, but what I’m most excited about is the focus that is currently surrounding the human characters. With an international cast including Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi, not to mention a couple of right Charlies (Day and Hunnam) this is shaping up to be the biggest (in more ways than one) film of the year.
PACIFIC RIM is released 12th July 2013. It stars Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day.
