Best known for her roles in TRAINING DAY, HITCH and last year’s acclaimed HOLY MOTORS, Eva Mendes will next be seen opposite Ryan Gosling in BLUE VALENTINE director Derek Cianfrance’s powerful crime-thriller, THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES (released 29th March in the US and 12th April in the UK). However, the two must have enjoyed working together a lot, as Gosling has tapped Mendes to appear in his directorial debut, HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER.
The dark fantasy film already has on-board THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES co-star (and always amazing) Ben Mendelsohn, as well as MAD MEN’s buxom beauty (and another actress Gosling’s worked with), Christina Hendricks. The two previously worked on Nicolas Winding-Refn’s brutal and brilliant DRIVE.
HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER will centre on Billy (Hendricks), a single mother of two, who is swept into a macabre and mysterious fantasy underworld while her teenage son uncovers a secret road leading to an underwater city. Both Billy and her son must travel there and solve a deadly puzzle, if their family is to survive.
