Some think I’m strange, as the topic of serial-killers and true-crime fascinates me. So whenever a new film, biopic or documentary comes along with a focus on these individuals, it immediately draws my attention. There is just something intensely thought-provoking and disturbing about what pushes people in the direction of such depraved acts, with that obvious question always gnawing away – ‘Are people actually born this way?‘, or is it a product of their advancing years in childhood along with later social lifestyle choices?
The strange and stomach-churning case of Jeffrey Dahmer is the latest infamous criminal under the microscope. Whilst we’ve seen him portrayed in film by the likes of Jeremy Renner, we’ve yet to see any meaningful insight to the detached man and his heinous crimes outside of television. Dahmer was responsible for the murder of 17 men and consuming parts of their anatomy and organs before his incarceration and subsequent death in prison in 1994.
Here we have a look at the unnerving first trailer and poster for the acclaimed documentary, THE JEFFREY DAHMER FILES, which looks to be attempting a similar approach to last years breathtaking THE IMPOSTOR. I’ll eat that up all day!
The film, directed Chris James Thompson, is slated to do the rounds at a number of film festivals around the US and currently has no release dates confirmed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
