New Images From Rob Zombie’s Latest ‘The Lords Of Salem’

Best known to most for his heavy rock music, Rob Zombie’s foray into filmmaking has been a mixed bag. His HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES was an intense thrill ride, made all the more notorious when Universal, who financed the film, wanted nothing to do with it. Zombie subsequently was allowed to purchase the rights with the help of Lionsgate and later went on to give us the terrific and vicious sequel THE DEVIL’S REJECTS. His HALLOWEEN remake was a modest success, but instead of keeping its protagonist a mystery, explored the early beginnings of a psychopath. Its follow-up however, descended to dreary depths with the director not happy about being forced to return. This brings us to his next supernatural effort, THE LORDS OF SALEM.

The film centres on radio DJ Heidi Hawthorne (Sheri Moon Zombie), a recovering drug addict struggling with her newfound sobriety and depression. She receives an anonymous gift at her workplace in the form a mysterious wooden box branded with a strange symbol. Found inside is a promotional record for a band that identifies themselves as The Lords. Deciding to play it on the radio show as a joke, horrible things begin to happen when the strange music awakens something evil in the town.

THE LORDS OF SALEM co stars Bruce Davison, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Sid Haig, Meg Foster, Barbara Crampton and is slated for US cinemas for the 26th April (a UK date is still awaited). Check out these new stills from the film and we’ve also added the teaser trailer for those who missed it.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
