Now there’s a sentence you thought you’d never see! It has been announced that Norah Jones will be performing at the Academy Awards ceremony, singing the Oscar-nominated song from TED…yes, the film about the talking bear is up for Best Original Song.Norah Jones, who also has a cameo in the film, will be performing “Everybody Needs A Best Friend” which was written by long time collaborators Walter Murphy and Seth MacFarlane for the movie. It is the first time that Norah Jones will be performing at the ceremony.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the producers of the telecast, spoke of their excitement about having Jones on the bill:
“We are happy to have Norah Jones perform Seth’s and Walter Murphy’s nominated song on our Oscar telecast. We are big admirers of Norah’s singing and she will help celebrate the unique circumstance of having an Oscar host who is also nominated for Best Original Song.”
Norah will be performing alongside other nominees including Adele. Last year the Oscars didn’t have any Best Original Song performances and it is definitely shaping up to return with a bang.
The 85th Academy Awards, hosted by Seth MacFarlane, will be televised 24th February.
