Last week we reported that another TERMINATOR sequel was in fact in motion as the production companies behind the franchise hired writers Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier to come up with a draft. Now it seems that we might have confirmation that Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return in some capacity. At a press junket for THE LAST STAND, Schwarzenegger listed some of his upcoming projects including a CONAN THE BARBARIAN film, the long rumoured sequel to TWINS, and of course TERMINATOR 5.
Exactly what kind of role we can expect him to have in the future franchise is unclear, it seems unlikely that he’s going to feature as a robot himself considering that they don’t age…and it would be weird if Skynet decided to make a line of senior citizen robots, however with time travel there’s always the possibility of him being one of the scientists behind Skynet (the deleted scene from TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES where Schwarzenegger plays the soldier who’s likeness the T-800 model is designed from is hardly canon). I’m all for a return from him though, the series just isn’t quite the same without Schwarzenegger wreaking havoc. We’ll bring you all the updates on the project right here on the website.
