Lance Armstrong Cheat Biopic Coming Via Bad Robot

Currently the sporting individual making bigger waves than a tsunami is disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. Thanks to the monotone charms of talk show icon Oprah Winfrey, Armstrong has now come clean (has there ever been a more inappropriate term used) about his cheating past, that saw him break records in the Tour de France with the help of performance enhancing drugs. Denying the claims for over a decade and suing anyone who dared to question or speak out.

We’re now going to see how the scandal played out on the big-screen as J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk’s Bad Robot Productions have acquired the rights to the book, Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong by author Juliet Macur. The spotlight on the Armstrong has grown considerably over the past week as his confession was aired all over the globe. A confession that came across as arrogant and with little-to-no apology for those genuine riders cheated out of their rightful placing.

Eyes will now fall on potential casting and a director willing to bring the controversial story to the screen.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
