Al Pacino and Brian De Palma are definitely no strangers to each other, working together on films such as CARLITO’S WAY and a little film called SCARFACE, and they look set to join forces again, this time for HAPPY VALLEY.
HAPPY VALLEY will tell the story about the Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, who was dismissed as coach back in 2011 for his role in the Penn State child sex abuse scandal. The screenplay will be based on the book PATERNO by sports journalist Joe Posnanski.
Producer Edward R. Pressman spoke out about the project:
“HAPPY VALLEY reunites the SCARFACE and CARLITO’S WAY team of De Palma and Pacino for the third time, and I can’t think of a better duo to tell this story of a complex, intensely righteous man who was brought down by his own tragic flaw.”
The producers are currently in talks with screenwriter David McKenna, who wrote such films as AMERICAN HISTORY X and BLOW, to adapt the book to screen.
Are you excited for the new project?
