Marvel Studios’ upcoming ‘Phase II’ effort, science-fiction superhero epic GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, will begin shooting at the UK’s Shepperton and Pinewood Studios in the summer.
SUPER and SLITHER director James Gunn is man tasked with bringing the intergalactic individuals – Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Racoon and Gamora – to the big-screen. No casting has been confirmed but the likes of Joseph Gordan-Levitt, Jim Sturgess, Michael Rosenbaum, Joel Edgerton and Zachary Levi are all thought to be in contention for roles.
It is also expected both Gunn’s comic-book adventure and Joss Whedon sequel to THE AVENGERS will share the same villain in Thanos.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is released 1st August 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
